Desalination

Why aren't we just turning sea water into drinking water?

It is a very loose use of the word 'we'. Hardly any of us could do this ourselves.

It takes a lot of power.

It could be done in Australia though.

The island country is on a continental plate. Earthquakes and such only occur near the coast. The nature influence is what makes the shape of Japan and New Zealand, the Phillipines, Indonesian islands.. into what they are.

Nuclear power would be very safe in Australia. And there is a lot of desert area. This area could also be used to have a zillion solar panels. I think the panels could be used for shade and maybe help green up the desert too.

I guess there needs to be the right financial incentive, as well as governmental approval, to have this happen.

But really, my question is, what do we do with all the salt?

Salty

The picture I used above is about using salt in the home.
It's interesting in itself and here is the link:

But on a big scale.. What do we do with piles of salt?

I thought about beanbags. Or an alternative to beanbags. Saltbags. I don't know how comfortable they would be. Or a salt mattress. Have you heard of salt caves that are good to sit in for a while? We could have more of them.
